Horsebox Innovation…

Horsebox Innovation…

Bloomfields launched its first horsebox range in 2005, designed and built by founder Dean Moody. From humble beginnings, Dean built his first horsebox in the stable yard of his parents house (called Bloomfield), and has since gone from strength to strength. Now manufacturing horseboxes from a 12,000 square foot factory and employing over 25 of the industries most skilled and trained workforce. Being a horse owner from a young age and a trained vehicle body technician, Dean always strives to challenge the status quo of horsebox manufacture.

Bloomfields are now a world-wide recognised brand with an outstanding reputation for exceptional build quality but still offering sensible prices. Always striving to stay ahead with our innovation, Bloomfields have a team of engineers and designers who create new innovative features and test new materials to be sure that all of our horseboxes are as strong and safe as can be.

VCA Approved Product In conjunction with our VCA C.O.P (Conformity of Production) Bloomfields have VCA European Type Approval 2007/46/EC. Meaning that we have achieved the highest form of certification available for our horseboxes. Bloomfields horseboxes can be sold across Europe without further need for any inspection. Proving that Bloomfields really are at the forefront of our industry in quality and safety.

Renault Trucks Approved Bloomfields are the ONLY UK 3.5T horsebox manufacturer to be approved by Renault Trucks. This means that Renault Trucks approve all aspects of our builds and endorse us as body builders onto their Renault Master Platform cabs. Renault Trucks are the commercial vehicle specialists, dealing only in commercial vehicles, meaning that they offer the best knowledge and mechanical understanding possible for your horsebox.

DEFRA Approved For extra peace of mind, Bloomfields have each individual vehicle inspected by the FTA (Freight Transport Association) and issued with a DEFRA Approval, meaning that our horseboxes meet DEFRA standards for travelling horses in the UK upto 12 hours, with European DEFRA approvals catered for upon request. Status Tested bulkhead At Bloomfields, safety is always at the forefront. That is why we have invested heavily into strength testing our bulkhead. Consisting of over 20 meters of 50mm aluminium box section an over 5m of aluminium weld, our full passenger safety cell is believed to be the strongest on the market. STATUS who are part of the Manchester Metropolitan University, tested our bulkhead to over four times ISO27956:2009 standards. Testing was forced to stop at this point as the machinery used was to its maximum testing capabilities. We don’t just claim to have the strongest of bulkheads — we prove it!

Who is Shady…?

Who is Shady…?

I’m an Arab cowboy born with a unique gift. My dream is to give people their leadership back and to help humans have better communication and understanding of horses. I specialise in solving horses problems and believes I can teach anyone to be a horseman as long as they have will, faith, knowledge understanding, patience and feeling. I was born in 1984. I’ve loved horses and rode them from a very early age and my brother Rami helped me buy my first horse at the age of 12. My horse’s name was Adham, he was an Arab stallion with no respect for people. A horse with many behavior problems. I went through many troubles with this horse, including falls, breaking a leg and many injuries, however I continued to ride on him until I learned to get on with him and to ‘survive’. By the time I was 16 he had already ridden this horse in most of Israel, mainly in orchards, and had trained another mare called Sandy that I bought when she was ten months old. I competed with the mare in races in Israel and at the same time worked in other jobs to earn a living. Sadly, during this time, Sandy was stolen. I searched for her throughout the country but without success. What I believe If a person has the will, faith, knowledge, understanding, patience and feeling he can achieve anything he wants; however, everything takes time: some things take less time and some take more and it depends what exactly you do, who with etc. Over the years I’ve seen that every problem has a solution; however, every problem can take much time and energy out of us and there are different ways to deal with this. From my wide experience I have learned that the problem always begins with people and not with horses. That’s the problem; it’s impossible to work only with horses; you have

to work in cooperation between horses and their owners, who have to know at least the basics of psychological understanding of horsemanship, and build a good foundation. Each horse has to have a foundation regardless of what your aim is for that horse, English style or Western style. When you build a house you need to build good foundations that meet standards and afterwards you can use different forms and colours, etc. Unfortunately, many people advance too quickly with their horses without a good foundation. They even begin to compete jumping and even dressage without a good foundations, and they experience many troubles on the way and in many cases they regret and do not progress as they should; or everything collapses, such as in the case of a horse who has managed to jump and win competitions and suddenly completely refuses to cooperate, or goes too fast, or other similar examples in all branches of horsemanship. Methods I have developed over the years Over the years I have learned to take all the positive things that I see or try from every branch of horsemanship, from every person, whether professional or amateur. I have taken the good things from Western riding, from English riding, and even from the world of free-style riding and I have used what I can from them so that I have strengths I can use

and that are fair to the horse. When I teach a person horsemanship, all I want is that he will learn the basic minimum, so he will prepare himself; firstly that he will learn how his body behaves and raise his awareness of what he does with himself, how and when, and after that the horses will understand. I invest a great deal of effort in the person’s understanding, so that he can understand what exactly is needed, what is the nature of the method – pressure and release at the right time. He has to understand that you have to behave slightly differently to each horse; they all understand through pressure and release, but the level of strength in the way of using pressure can be changed in order to help the horse to understand best what you want from him, without fighting battles against the horse, and without arguments, to try to operate the horse in positive ways (and words) – to occupy his brain before he occupies us. Contact us now for more information on our Level 1a horsemanship course, running for five Sundays from 9am-3pm at our ranch in Bryerley springs, Milton Keynes.

What to wear whilst eventing…

What to wear whilst eventing…

British Eventing has strict rules on dressing for the sport, not only because of the safety aspect but to keep in-line with the sports original dress code, which was based on traditional hunting attire. Dressage Phase In the Dressage phase of Eventing, hunting dress is permitted when competing at advanced level in three-day eventing or intermediate and above.

At one-day events riders must wear a black or navy tailcoat. At all other levels riders are encouraged to wear either black or navy show jacket, similar to the Caldene Heritage show jacket or the Wessex hunt coat. When wearing black or navy, it is correct protocol to sport a white stock, with buff or fawn breeches. These can be worn with plain black leather long boots or full grain smooth black gaiters and matching jodhpur boots.

Competing at novice level, or below, riders are permitted to wear a plain tweed coat similar to the Caldene Belvoir tweed with a smart coloured stock or tie and black or brown full length leather boots or gaiters. Gloves must be worn. But colour is down to personal preference. If you struggle to keep your hands still whilst riding it is advisable to steer away from light coloured gloves, as this will only draw more attention them. Gloves are designed to offer extra grip. When choosing your gloves its best not to go for full leather. In wet conditions leather doesn’t offer the same grip.

Show Jumping- The show jumping phase of Eventing requires advanced level riders and those competing at intermediate championships to wear a black, navy or red coat. At intermediate level and below, or except where indicated, black, navy and tweed coats are allowed. Teamed with a plain stock shirt and stock, or shirt and tie with tweed.

Similar to Dressage; white, buff or fawn breeches are permitted. Like with all physical sports it is important for riders to remain comfortable whilst looking stylish. Often breeches or jodhpurs can look great but don’t deliver on performance. Caldene have a heritage in designing fashionable and functional equestrian attire, devised from years of research and tried-and-tested designs pushed to the limit. The mix of fabrics used in their breeches ensures riders are given complete freedom of movement without any restriction.

Cross Country:- The most dangerous and thrilling section of Eventing, Cross Country — safety must come first! A visible British Eventing checked symbol, such as the yellow/green tape, must be visible and the harness correctly fastened at all times. Body protectors are obligatory for this section and without one, riders are not allowed to compete. Riders will also be required to have their hats checked by officials to ensure they meet current safety standards. A sweater or shirt is required with breeches and boots or gaiters. Many riders still wear a stock which was traditionally worn to support the neck should the rider fall off.
